SOMALIA:Church Pastor Arrested

A house church pastor (name withheld) was arrested on December 3, 2007 and held for four days by order of a high-ranking government official whose niece converted to Christianity through the witness of the pastor. Torture was used during interrogation sessions by those within the Criminal Investigation Department, but the pastor held strong and did not reveal the names of those within his house church. Somaliland is a breakaway de facto state in Somalia having a functioning government since 1991. ICC's source indicated that anti-Christian Islamic militants have infiltrated the investigative department, have names of other pastors, and have vowed to eliminate Somali church leaders using the Somaliland justice system.
PRAY for this house church pastor who has been placed under twenty-four hour surveillance by security officials.
PRAY for the Lord's peace and courage to the other church leaders who have been targeted by the Islamic Jihadists.
PRAY for the Lord to open the eyes of the hate-filled officers to see the light of Jesus Christ.
